Mike Lamerato here from Metro-Detroit Men's Therapy. I am excited to host our first ever Intro to Men's Work, 1-day workshop on 11/9/24. I have been helping men for the last ten years through therapy, groups, and retreats but wanted to offer a more accessible intro to men's work for those men who might be interested in group work with other men but might be unsure of where to start. If that sounds like you, I've got you covered.

  • This 1-day workshop is meant to give you a experience of what it looks and feels like to work with men in a group and the value that comes from it.
  • This workshop includes an intro to:
  • Parts work, or how the parts of personality can often get bogged down, leading to over- stress, relational concerns, and self-doubt/shame.
  • Practice with being seen and supported by other men and dropping competition with other men in order to connect
  • Emotional and nervous system work: help to fully experience and process emotions that we avoid as well learn how to being to regulate our nervous system responses to overwhelm and shut-down.
  • Nature therapy: how to use nature to begin to regulate your emotions and gain insight into dealing with problems
  • Light yoga and movement: Entry level movement to help you get in touch with your body and open up stuck energy
  • All of this is offered at our usual group spot, Evan's Creek Lodge, a true hidden gem of a log cabin in Southfield, MI.

The Space

Hosted at our usual spot, Evan's Creek Lodge has held our group the last three seasons. Jeremy has done an outstanding job of restoring this place and it truly feels like an Up-North retreat space right in our backyard.

  • Finding that stress now occupies a large part of of your life with no clear path forward.

  • Feeling like it's time for a break from the hustle and grind and to reconnect with yourself.

  • A general curiosity in men's work or wanting to find ways to connect more with your fellow man and gain more support in your life.

What's included in the day workshop:

  • Six separate lessons, exercises, and group work aimed at knowing yourself better and to be able to start to make some real shifts in your life.
  • A chance to be really seen and supported amongst a group of caring men and to learn about how men's group can impact our lives
  • Opportunities to be challenged individually as well as to form deeper relationships with other men
  • Lunch is provided
  • One slow and beginner style yoga and meditation session aimed at opening up some energy and restoring yourself
  • An experience with nature to help de-stress and re-center yourself before the holidays and learn ways to use nature as therapy going forward
  • Early bird access to registration for the Men's 1-night restorative retreat in January.
